This basket was made in class with Flo Hoppe. The basket is made from round reed on an oval base. Flo is a prominent American full-time studio artist, author, and teacher who has been a major, highly influential figure in the world of contemporary basketmaking since 1971. Best known for her expertise in round reed and wicker basketry, she has traveled, exhibited, and taught workshops globally. This basket patter and many others is availble from her book, Wicker Basketry. To my mind, this and her book Contemporary Basket Weaving are two of the best basketry teaching tools ever printed.
