Little Sparks @ Lights Out Gallery

RG19-23 (guinan), sweetgrass coiled with waxed linen thread attached to a found and partially-polished stone

In August 2023, I was juried into the Little Sparks exhibit at the Lights Out Gallery in Norway, ME. This was the first exhibition held in this gallery - an abandoned snowshoe factory that is under renovation to create an arts center. I was excited to be part of this inaugural exhibit and for the work to share in the excitement of a new art space.

The piece included in the show was RG19-23 (guinan). This piece was important to me as it explored a number of ideas including a cantilevered form, a new color of waxed linen thread (dark rust), and most importantly, it was the first time I polished one face of the found stone. Follow the link above to see more images of the work.

Iā€™m happy to share that the piece sold and is now living somewhere in Blue Hill, ME

From the Lights Out website:
This blowout fundraising show of over 120 Maine artists helped benefit the restoration and renovation of our new home at Maine's historic snowshoe factory-turned-art center in Norway, Maine. It included notable Maine artists such as Lois Dodd, Katherine Bradford, Duncan Hewitt, Warren Seelig, Rose Marasco, and many more. We brought together small works from our past-featured artists as well as new selections from across the state. Little Sparks was a prime example of the magnitude and vigor of Maine's art community. With overwhelming interest and support, this show attracted nearly one thousand visitors and illuminated our mission to show emerging and established artists alongside one another.
